Media Specialist

My name is Leslie Benefield, and I have been the media specialist at Futral Road for the past eleven years. We LOVE to read in our media center and we have fun, exciting events every month to promote literacy. Some of these include Dot Day, Dr. Seuss Week, Read for Others, Don't Judge a Book, and many more like Reading Bowl and Literacy Day.  

Our students participate in Accelerated Reader during the year. As they reach point clubs and reading goals, they earn prizes at our Treat Trolley, on top of class parties, and even end-of-the-year medals. We love having reading challenges where kids read a certain amount of AR books, pass their test, and win a prize if their name is called. 

We are always looking for volunteers, so if you have free time, please check in with me, and let's set up a day and time you could volunteer each week!
