Beginning April 22, 2025 - May 9, 2025, GSCS students will participate in the Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS). GMAS measures how well students have learned and mastered the state content standards in ELA, math, science and social studies. Congratulations to Futral Road Elementary Fifth Grader Elizabeth Shepherd for being a 2025 Regional Winner of the Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition! Elizabeth’s winning entry will now move on to the state-level competition for another round of judging. State winners will be announced in May. Congratulations to Elizabeth on this incredible achievement! Let’s wish her the best as she advances to the next level!


Over the weekend, GSCS students competed against Atlanta, Fulton and Clayton County at the Regional Social Studies Fair. Our district was represented by 13 projects from various grade bands. Of those 13 projects, FOUR projects will move forward to the State Social Studies Fair on May 3, 2025, in Kennesaw. Congratulations!

- Ma'Kenzie Justice, Harriett Tubman and the Underground Railroad in Georgia, Beaverbrook Elementary

- Rondell White, Fast Fashion and its Effect on the Environment and A Global Society, Spalding High School

Pre-K Families, Get Ready! GSCS Pre-K registration for the 2025-26 school year will be held February 24-March 14. Students must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2025, to be eligible. Free EED Screenings will be held on February 26.
